Available for a young non-French EU citizen at the INSERM U910 unit, La Timone Medical School, Aix-Marseille University, France

The PhD student will be part of a collaborative project “DisChrom – Chromatin Diseases" which aims to study, at different levels, the molecular mechanisms underlying chromatin diseases and the potential for therapeutic intervention. This program is part of the European Marie Curie Initial Training Networks (FP7). In this program, the PhD student will follow several specialized training modules in different European countries.

In this project, the objectives of our team are to evaluate, in vivo, the effects of pharmacological interventions in mouse model of Rett syndrome to alleviate autonomic motor and cognitive dysfunctions.

Our laboratory, Genetics of mental retardation & cortical malformations, is lead by Laurent Villard and located in Marseille. The applicant should hold a University degree in Biological Sciences and be able to start the project as soon as possible in 2010. The successful applicant will be enrolled in the PhD‐program in autumn 2010. The salary of the student is defined by EU standards and is around 1300€/month, after taxes.
